State-owned energy company CPC Corporation has renovated restrooms at 95 of its gas stations so far, as part of a program that will see restrooms at more than 600 gas stations improved.
CPC Corporation Chairman Chen Jinde (陳金德) invited media to the company’s Dazhi gas station in New Taipei City to witness the progress of his vision to make using a gas station restroom a comfortable and refreshing experience.
The new restrooms are larger, brighter, well ventilated, and feature bidet toilets.
Chairman Chen revealed his plan to overhaul the restrooms at the company’s 612 gas stations in January this year. At the time Chen said he hoped to see the project completed within 2 years. Today, with 175 bidet toilets installed at 95 gas stations, it is expected the project will be completed this year.
NT$160 million has been allocated to the project.
Chairman Chen said in order to keep the restrooms odor-free, they will be well ventilated and signs will clearly instruct the public to throw toilet paper into the toilet. There will be no trash cans in the men’s cubicles, and the women’s toilets will have a trash can with a sensor-lid that automatically opens when a hand approaches.
