Tour Bus Crash Near Keelung: 8 Injured

Eight passengers suffered slight injuries when a tour bus crashed through a guard rail and slid down a slope off a highway ramp, at Badu, north of Taipei City at around 7:00am this morning, January 7, 2017. Most passengers managed to disembark without assistance through a rear emergency exit. Apple Daily reported that the driver is suspected to have been under the influence of cold medicine. Liberty Times Network reported that the driver lost control during a fit of coughing.

Continuous Rain Causes Rockfalls and Traffic Hazards

Three days of continuous rain has resulted in rockfalls, road-blockages, and a spate of traffic accidents in Taiwan, Wednesday, November 23. On Provincial Highway 9(the Su-hua Highway), a 55 year-old woman was seriously injured in a traffic accident at around 10:00am. The woman was riding as a passenger on a scooter when it collided with a semi-trailer at the 116km mark. A series of rockfalls saw the road temporary blocked in several locations, as road crews rushed to clear debris.

Six-vehicle Pile-up on National Highway

Six vehicles were involved in an accident on the national highway in New Taipei City this morning at around 11:00am. Wet weather may have been a factor in the accident. Three people were trapped in their vehicles. The three injured were conscious when rushed to hospital. Injuries were described as non-life threatening.
