A 53 year old man died of multiple organ failure in hospital yesterday, after being stung by hornets on a hiking trip last weekend. Student Sentenced For Killing Cats

Post-graduate student Chen Haoyang (陳皓揚) was sentenced by the Taipei District Court to 10 months prison commuted to a 350,000NTD fine for the killing of two cats. Patrick the Koala Passes Away at Taipei Zoo

One of Taipei Zoo’s oldest koalas, Patrick, passed away yesterday October 10 after weakening due to old age. The 19 year old koala was born a Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, on Australia’s Gold Coast, and arrived at the zoo in 1999. Formosan Macaques Poisoned on Monkey Mountain

A Toxicology report released today shows that rat poison was cause of death for 15 Formosan rock macaques that were found in Kaohsiung between August 18 and 24. The macaques were found on Shoushan, a mountain north of the Kaohsiung Harbor entrance, commonly called Monkey Mountain in English. A seven year-old Giraffe named Xiaojiu died in Taipei after an unsuccessful attempt to transport it to another zoo.
